My Fused Glass Art Creations
I started working with fused glass art in October of 2017 and continue to learn and grow my craft with each one-of-a-kind piece. Recently retired from a career in Information Technology in September 2021, I am looking forward to focusing more time on my glass art. Fused glass art and objects make great gifts for mom or anyone! Fused glass is a complex process where pieces are fired in a kiln multiple times at various processing temperatures and can go through several "coldworking" steps, as well, to get the desired effect. It can take several days or even weeks to complete one glass art piece. Fused glass art has endless possibilities and unlimited potential for creativity and design. I especially love to create functional art objects such as plates, bowls, spoon rests and soap dishes. I tend to work with geometric designs, but I am also stating to play with more organic glass art designs.
My fused glass shop exists in two spaces. The design shop is in my upstairs "bonus" room that also doubles as a guest room. This is where I have a large supply of art glass, a worktable for design and assembly, cutting and breaking tools, slumping molds, and a variety of other tools and supplies required for glass art. My kiln and my coldworking tools are in my woman cave (one bay of our three-car garage). For coldworking I have a grinder, diamond hand pads, a wet belt sander and a wet tile saw. These are all primarily used for finishing edges, so they are straight, smooth, and beautiful.
